♥ eѕѕвee: What are the differences between Islam and the middle eastern culture?
I am a non-middle eastern Muslim, and would like to know the difference between the RELIGION and the CULTURE. because In the middle east it seems these two are mixed so well that you can’t seem to tell the difference between them.
Give many specific examples
It seems that people are blaming Islam for the Culture of the middle east.

Islam is a religion more a way of life
A culture is a region tradition of set values and ways.
Has nothing to do with Islam
many people mix them up
Culture and Tradition have no room in Islam and any Muslim Mid Eastern Cultures or Traditions they call Islam is a lie.
Islam is Al Quran and Al Sunnah that is Islam
Culture and Tradition is desire of mankind.

It’s impossible to separate Islam and Eastern culture; they go together.
Every Sharia law can be traced to Eastern traditions.
Many Muslims swear that Eastern tradition has no effect on Islam; well that is false. just take a look at your beloved Hadiths; even some of the Traditional Laws banned by Mohammad(eg stoning women to death) are revived in the Hadiths.Answer by Ruchjat K
Salam.Islam with life guide in the form of Al Qur’an sand Hadith is the same around the world.Islam in certain country and also in middle east are influenced by certain local culture although idealy Islam could not be affected by cultures while cultures could be influenced by islamic religion.
In Indonesia Islam is affected by cultures such as tahililan (reading surah Yaasin and dzikir and praise Allah )when someone died on first,third,5th and 7th day and 40th day after the buried at the grave. We could not blamed Islam if this religion affected by cultures We could blame its followersAnswer by Alexander
When Islam came to countries they all became more like Arab people.
The dress, the names, the language… how come people in Pakistan have Arab names?
Female genital mutilation and purdah, picked up by Islamic culture, spread around the Islamic empires. Indonesia is now making yoga illegal, women wear hijab, etc. Seclusion of women and refusal to educate women are justified by Quranic statements that women are inferior, and that may have started as a cultural thing but now it is a religious thing.Answer by Joe T. Islam is separate from the middle eastern culture. Islam is not tied to any race, origin or culture but is purely a faith about submission to Allah azawejjel alone. The largest muslim country is not even in the middle east but it is indonesia. It is out of dam stupidity that people blame everything on islam. Culture and traditions are what many people tend to follow and not islam unfortunatly. If islam was tied with culture of the mid east, then that would mean only arabs could be muslims but thats not the case because like I said, the largest muslim country happens to be indonesia.Answer by ann

What makes up Culture?
Language – good Muslims must learn Arabic in order to read the Koran properly
Visual art – no images in Islam, just calligraphy of Koranic verses
Models of human interaction – dictated by the Koran, based on the society of Mohamud’s day
Education – madrasas teach the Koran
I’d say that Islam, more than any other religion, pretty much dictates the culture. While any culture of a people who follow their herds around the desert is going to be violent, brutish and oppressive, Islam has done a pretty good job of concretizing that culture and spreading it around the world.
