Depends on what you like to do. Beach, City or Mountains?

My personal favorites inside the US:

Beach: Nantucket, MA – Nice and quiet beaches. A great get-away from civilization.

City: Seattle, WA – An overlooked city with a great nightlife and so close to Vancouver, Canada that you can make that two trips in one.

Mountains: Asheville, NC – Gorgeous mountain scenery, good live music in every pub you go.
