Taoism is a religion close to Buddhism, but I don’t have any websites on Buddhism only books.

The best general website on Buddhism is Buddhanet. It provides a clear, straightforward explanation of this ancient tradition, while allowing the interested reader to drill deeper into specific areas of interest. Perhaps best of all, it’s non-sectarian in its descriptions.

I also recommend that you consider the following book. As good as Buddhanet is, it doesn’t quite convey the wisdom and compassion of Buddhism. “It’s Easier Than You Think” by Sylvia Boorstein – short and full of life!
