They are two of the major religions in China, along with Taoism.

They both focus on your thoughts being in the right place, and both focus more on how to live then the afterlife, or a god. They both can be Atheistic entirely. Confucious and the Buddha have both been worshiped as Gods, but neither wanted to be.

By the way, Buddhism started in India, not Asia as someone said.

Confucianism (e.g. Master Kong, a.k.a. Kong-Fu) wrote about things vertical – like how a ruler acts toward common people.

Buddhism is horizontal. All humans are equal, King and commoner, men and women, landlord and serf. Buddhism was therefore concerned with the moment regardless of one’s station in life.

There is no Pope, no Cardinal, no Bishop. There are only ‘ordinary monks.’

The first one: “Vevanniy’amhi ajjhūpagato` ti pabbajitena abhinham paccavekkhitabbam.” This means, literally, “‘I have entered upon a classless condition’: this is something that should be frequently reflected upon by one who has gone forth into the homeless life.”

There is only one similarity: teaching a person to be good. Buddhist belief takes one toward enlightenment; while Confucianism teaches good conduct.
Both belief and culture were destroyed and deprecated by the Chinese Communist regime during the Great Cultural Revolution.

In the Chinese Confucius’ teaching, high moral human characters are valued: respectful to heaven and earth, kindness, manner, knowledge, honesty, …etc. Confucianism is a philosophy emphasizing in good moral characters in one’s conduct toward others: from the family, to other people, and ultimately to the country. Therefore Confucius teaching is suitable from kindergartners, students in many levels: politicians, parents, workers, merchants, to empire. The study of Confucianism was required to pass written examination for government posts in many dynasties of China. Confucius attempted to convince the warlords to execute peaceful ruling over the citizens as to prevent war and killings. Confucius continued to learn to gain new knowledge, Confucius spent his life never stopping learning while he had many students and was famous.

The Buddhist belief transcends humanity. In Buddhism, Buddhist monks practice in temples and monasteries, living an isolated life. Other Buddhist belief, such as Falun Gong, affords practice at home or in temples. As a unique Buddhist belief, Falun Gong teaches Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. The practitioner not only has a to maintain good moral characters and his relationship with others, but conducts himself as a good Buddhist as set forth in the scripture.

Not relating to Buddhism nor Daoism, Falun Gong is a unique Buddhist School, combining the Daoist and Buddhist practice. consisting of five sets of powerful exercises.

Falun Gong, Tibetans, other Buddhists, and Christians have been persecuted in China. The most offensive human right violation is the organ harvesting from the Falun Gong practitioners in China.

Can you kindly sign a petition to stop persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, please ?
