Goldie,
This is a great question and the Bible is full of stories about loving your enemies. One that comes to mind is Jesus Christ most importantly is, when Jesus was hanging on the cross and He said, “forgive them for they know what they do” to me that is the ultimate example of Christ loving the people that put Him on the cross. Also, Joseph when his brother’s sold him into slavery, that is a great one too. Also, when Jesus was before Pilate he was showing him what ultimate love is. Pilate was only worried about getting votes and not what this would do to the Son of God. Before Paul was a follower of Christ his name was Saul and he hated christians and killed them too, but when he had his experience on the road to Damascus he was changed completely even changing his name to Paul. Paul changed from being a hater of christians to a follower of Jesus Christ and telling us to forgive our enemies as well. I hope this helps you and I thoroughly enjoyed this question. I hope you are doing well and that Christ is blessing you with His peace and joy.

Answer by CuriousTo love those who hate, to embrace those who fight, is the thinking of Jesus. This thinking does not mean to succumb and submit to everything and anyone. It means to be motivated by love, not vengeance. With that force, at play, punishment is still an option.
The entire Bible is God loving humanity, in rejection of Him. Jesus had legions of angels at His command, to call upon, to subdue those who worked toward his ill. But, chose to provide path to salvation for all, including His enemies, by accepting the implications of the cross.
There is no greater “story” of “loving one’s enemies,” than that.
