: What university degrees are reccomended when planning to become an elementary school teacher?
I’m doing a project for my careers class where we have to plan out our career path. My plan is to become an elementary school teacher. What university degrees are recommended for you to take before applying to teachers college?
* this is for teaching in Canada. You must complete a Bachelors degree in University and then apply to teachers college to get your teaching degree. I’m asking what to take in University before you get your teachers degree.

In the U.S. at least a degree in Elementary Education in necessary to teach in elementary schools.

Elementary Education degree.

If you don’t major in elementary ed, you’ll have to spend additional time going back to school to get the required courses. Teaching little kids isn’t like telling adults information. It’s more like using a foreign language. You have to learn the language that they understand best.
