sugar.kiss89: How can you become an international diplomat?
A career in diplomacy in the foreign service is highly sought after and selective.
Therefore, is there a likely chance to achieve this goal without having studied International Diplomacy for a degree?
I am due to start a degree combining languages and regular politics. Will it be imperative for me to specialize in “International Relations” or will what I learn in this degree be valuable enough?
Thanks.

talk to jim jones and become a dipset
If you are thinking of becoming an ambassador, that is a political appointment and has nothing to do with education. Anything else like a consul needs foreign service degrees. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_Service_OfficerAnswer by Jimmy
Every country has its own rules. Your choice of words leads me to suspect that you are not a native english speaker. Tell us which country’s foreign service you are interested in/qualified for and we can direct you to your foreign ministry’s website. most have one which provides the necessary qualifications for employment.
