pucksnatcher: I tweaked my shoulder in a rugby match on Sunday. What can I do to get it to heal faster?
I tweaked my shoulder in a rugby match on Sunday and then I kind of bothered it at practice on Tuesday (I stopped as soon as I felt pain). What can I do to make it heal faster?
I’ve been icing it and stretching. Anything else I should do, and how often?
I have a game this coming Sunday and I really want to play. This’ll be the only time my dad can come to watch!

I’d suggest seeing a physio, who can tell what’s wrong with your shoulder and the best way to help it heal. Icing it is good, as this will help keep the inflammation down, and stretching it is also good. Generally, you ice every few hours, depending on the extent of the injury. Be careful not to push yourself though. Overusing your shoulder will only slow the healing process. A physio is really your best choice. They can be quite expensive but are well worth it in the long run. If there’s a local university or college near you that has a physio school, see if they run clinics. The students will be there watching, diagnosing and treating patients. But don’t worry, a mentor, who is a fully qualified physio is always present. They can be a lot cheaper than going to a normal physio.
