: Total shift in what I want to pursue…?
I used to be really into english and language in general, but now that I am moving on to more advanced classes I’m starting to really not enjoy it. The thing is, I’m in all honors and ap except for math and science. The problem is that I have taken an extreme interest in astronomy over the past year or two, and I am now thinking that I might want to do that with my life. In order to do that, I should be taking the advanced math and science classes though! I’m so confused as to what to do! I’m still a freshman in high school, so it isn’t like I need to make any life-changing decisions now, but I want to get a handle on things now so that I can really focus on it. What should I do? Should I switch my classes and risk my entire schedule being messed up? I do find the geometry and biology classes I’m in right now WAY too easy, but I don’t necessarily know what to do!

You’re still in high school – you’ve got a long way to go to become an astronomer. You’ve got plenty of time to make up your mind. Yes, you need to be good at math and science – you’re basically going to have to earn a PhD in physics to work as an astronomer. If you can handle taking the higher level math courses, go ahead and do it – but you can wait until next year. It would be great if you could take calculus before you go to college, but don’t rush it – you’ll need to really know all the math you learn, so don’t try to skip ahead and miss anything. You can always catch up in college.
