How do you teach him, I’ve tried saying it repeatedly but nothing & also how do you tell if the parrot is a male or female???

Repetition is the key to learning a new word. It is just about impossible to sex a parrot visually, unless you have an Eclectus. Your parrot would have to be surgically sexed.

Use a tape recorder on the words you want him to say. When you go to work turn it on and the bird will start to mimic the words

Repetition normally will work. Chose a phrase you say alot anyway, like “Hello” or “Love you”. Good words to try are
Hello
Bye bye
Love you
Hi
Pretty boy

I think you’ll know if your parrot is male or female if you try to get together another parrot then see if your parrot will labor or not, or go to a veterenarian or what do you call that a doctor of a bird or animal. You say always the word then leave him/her to practice. If it does not work you only sa y the word once but angrily as if you are angry because it did not follow you.

Tape recorders are no good. Parrot love to hear excited noises, sounds & words. A repetative tape recorder is not exciting & the parrot will have no interest in it. Evening, mornings are good times to teach.
Single simple words to start with & make them sound exciting!! The bird may then take an interest.

SOME birds, no matter what the breed just aren’t interested in talking so don’t be dissapointed if yours never does.

As for the sex, what’s the species??? Some parrots can be sexed (not only eclectus) visually but no one can tell you how to sex a parrot if we don’t know what it is.

For 100% sexing of any parrot though DNA at a vet.

Instead of trying to ram things into its head try and be casual about it. I know this sounds strange, but talk to it as if it were human. Just chat. It worked for me, mine doesn’t shut up now.
About the gender part, I have no clue! I called my parrot boy for his entire life to find out he was a girl!
