Bob: What’s a really quiet parrot about the size of a conure that can talk?
Not talk like a Macaw necessarily, but just a little bit is fine.
A parrot that barely screams is good, but can’t be too pricy.

It really sounds like you shouldn’t get a bird. Parrot and quiet don’t even go into the same sentence. Parrots are not meant to be for talking, they are meant to be companions. Parrots are very pricey. A African Grey costs over 1000 around here. I bought a Lovebird, and it screams, and is very pricey. Don’t get a bird, get a phone.

If quiet is very important to you a bird is the wrong pet for you. The only really quiet bird is either sick or has passed over the Rainbow Bridge. That being said the quietest bird I have is my senegal. He is active , reasonably quiet and talks when he feels like it. I haven’t priced them lately but they probably are in the price range of a green cheek conure or a bit more. Incidentally Green cheeks are noted for being one of the quieter conures. No matter what anyone tells you ,there are exceptions to every rule. Just depends on the bird and how you train it.Answer by brucemoko
What size of conure are you referring to? A Patagonian weighs five times as much as a Painted.
The Pyrrhura conures are, of course, conure sized (the small conures) and not nearly as loud as the larger conures.

A lineolated parakeet is about the size of a painted conure, but quieter.

The poicephalus parrots are also fairly quiet. They range in size from sun conure to Patagonian.

I have a Sun Conure named Lola that’s quiet unless my Amazon George gets her going.
Just stay away from Quaker Conures because they never shut up. Also Macaws aren’t quiet birds. My Macaw Baby screams every time the door opens or phone rings.
