pattscool: What should I get my sister who babysits my 2 month son for free?
My sister has offered 2 watch my son for free while she looks for a job as a nurse. She just graduated nursing school and her birthday just passed. So I owe her a birthday gift too. So i need a b-day gift and a thank you gift and a graduation gift.
Please give me other ideas besides gift card.

manicure and pedicure!
A day spa gift card is still a nice idea. Is there anything she might need clothing-wise for her nurse’s duty? Perhaps a nice dinner out or a fancy box of chocolates. Maybe a date with a nice guy.Answer by Nona said so
How about a nice stethoscope? Or some comfy shoes?
Maybe a nice lunch bag and/or purse to keep her stuff in…Try to get her something that will be a help for her new career.
Good luck!
Answer by TrixibelleYou can pick up a plaster of paris kit at target or a craft store in which anything you stick in there is duplicated so you could hold hands with the baby and it would make a statue of the two hands complete with wrinkles, fingerprints, follicles, all the details or just one of the baby’s hands, etc.Everyone’s hands are recognizable to loved ones, and it washes right off so no problems with dangers. They also have those kits for a handprint plaque or footprint kit, In the past people would trace their profiles and cut it out (directions for this found by googling shadow or silhouette picture) or bronze their babies’ shoes too. Since you have several occasions, you could go to one of those mall stores where they engrave gifts like door knockers, pens, lockets, etc, and find something meaningful then add a photo. I got a keyring there inscribed which lets you load several pix thru usb port. I hope I helped you, and it’s wonderful that the baby has a loving caretaker. She is more than just a good sister. I like the mani-pedi too.Answer by phantom_of_valkyrie
I would say place a value on it. In my opinion, $ 10 a day would be a nice gift. Make sure there is good food in the house for her to eat. Then buy her something every week or month for doing it. Think about things she needs either for her nursing job (a couple new pairs of scrubs) or something for her car. Offer to get her oil changed for her on Sat. A basket of food type gifts–pasta, sauces. I just tried a new sauce that was amazing for Indian food. Patak’s. Get some saffron rice and that. Bath products are great–just make sure you know what she uses. A new loofah, some bath and body works shower gel and lotion, St Ives Apricot scrub, facial cleanser. Gift cards to places like Walmart or some place she likes to go with her friends for a drink really are great though.
Do you live someplace with something cool? For example a season pass to Six Flags. Two tickets to a couple concerts she wants to go to. White water rafting passes or unlimited entrance to a museum. What kind of person is your sister? What would she most like? I know I’d love it if someone bought me the entire series of books that I’m interested in. Hardcover of all the Harry Potter. Is she getting her own apartment when she gets a job? If so, wait until she gets that and help her decorate it. Gift cards to IKEA or Bed Bath and Beyond. Frame some artwork for her.
One thing that’s really cool is to change a picture to artwork. Many sites do that now. Paintyourlife and MyDavinci are two of them. I ordered a caricature and it was amazing. I’d love to have them do an oil.
I’m not sure how tight money is for you. If it’s incredibly tight, $ 50 a week may not be feasible. But the job market is very rough and this situation of “while she looks for a job” may be a bit longer than she anticipates. Make sure you’ve talked about this and how long this is to last.
