Zanzibar: Do you buy gifts for absolutely everyone in your family?
I have to buy gifts for all the kids (4) in my husband’s family and also his parents, as well as the 2 kids in my family, my sister and her husband, and my parents. Of course I also by gifts for my immediate family– husband and daughter. That is a lot of gifts, and our families continue to grow. I’d like to do a gift exchange next year, or just buy gifts for the kids. Something along those lines. How do you handle gift-giving during the holidays in your family?

I have 14 adults & 7 (under 18yrs old kids) to buy for….its gotten too expensive last year for us to continue the individual gift giving to everyone so this year I’m giving to the kids each but the Parents get baked goods and a small gift to share ….I budget myself really tight on everyone but my guy & Mom,& so far I’ve come out okay…>=)
I buy gifts for my husband, Parents and their pets, in-laws, sister and her dog, her boyfriend, my dogs, and my husbands cousins there are about 8 of them under 18. Everyone else gets a card 🙂Answer by Ashley D
if i bought presants for every single person in my family i would be completely broke.
there are nine people in my immediate family, including my brothers wives and my fiance.
if i start tallying up cousins and aunts and uncles im up to 60 people in no time flat, JUST on my mothers side
i buy for immediate family only, and my brothers and their wives get gifts as a couple not as individuals.
Answer by JessicaAs I am newlywed, I have suddenly doubled the size of my family so we gave out just a small stocking stuffer to each person. We gave Herculittles, which were loved by both guys and girls of all ages. I wouldn’t recommend them for kids under 5 just because they won’t find them fun and are a choking hazard). Here is the gift guide I saw them on, but you could put ‘herculittles’ in google and it will come up.Answer by Cam♥
I buy for my parents, sister, neice, bro in law, grandparents, bro and his gf. However, when we all end up married with kids I’m sure we’ll do something like my parents do. Mom is one of 5 kids. So her siblings and their spouses all draw names. All the kids names go into a seperate drawing and each child picks a name. If they are younger, their parents buy the gift. If they are older (most of us are), we buy the gift. Dad is one of 4 kids. They used to do the adult gift exchange as well but they stopped a few years back. Instead they all get together one evening for dinner at a restaurant and everyone chips in. The kids all got a little something until we reached about 15ish. I’m not sure if this would work in your situation or not but that’s how we do it.
You could just get the kids a gift and the adults a tin of cookies or box of candy.
