Yummy cookies: Since when is marriage not a secuar issue and why would gay marriage appeal to all Christianities?
It’s like some religion taught you that eating healthy is a way to connect to God and than you wouldn’t let atheists eat healthy.
As for religion based marriage, America has freedom of religion. I’m certain there’s a religion or a Christianity that would see gay marriage as valid.
Else, there is no such thing as America having freedom of religion and is thus a theocracy.

Marriage is a legal contract.
Even fundies must obtain a license from the state to be married.
“The civil rights of none shall be abridged on account of religious belief or worship, nor shall any national religion be established, nor shall the full and equal rights of conscience be in any manner, or on any pretence, infringed.” – James Madison (Original wording of the First Amendment; Annals of Congress 434 (June 8, 1789).)

Gay marriage is valid in Paganism – but the Christians who voted for Prop8 don’t care about that. They only care about themselves. Very, very, very selfish.Answer by † Aslan † – SFECU
Marriage was not invented by some atheist..
Marriage was and is a religious ceremony that the Govt. decided to make into a civil legal contract, and has always been between one man and one woman. That Sacrament of Christianity that was taken by the Govt to make a legal union is now being changed to have a completely different meaning.
The Govt didn´t start it, God did. When the Govt. wants to take one of our Sacraments and then change it, they are messing with Christian doctrine that they have chosen to make into civil law..
You also tend to forget that the Christians of this country also have rights in forming the laws and customs of the country, and we are dead set against sodomy and the legalizing of it.Answer by Val
It’s nothing more than busy bodies poking thier noses up where they don’t belong. Why because it makes them feel better when they trash someone else.
Love is never wrong, how can it be…. so ingnore the stupid sods and get on with living your life how ever you wish. The only thing I would advice anyone not to do, is to not create dis-ease.
Answer by OUpreacherSince GOD first instituted it in the Garden:Gen 2:21 So the LORD God made him fall into a deep sleep, and he took out one of the man’s ribs. Then after closing the man’s side,
Gen 2:22 the LORD made a woman out of the rib. The LORD God brought her to the man,
Gen 2:23 and the man exclaimed, “Here is someone like me! She is part of my body, my own flesh and bones. She came from me, a man. So I will name her Woman!”
Gen 2:24 That’s why a man will leave his own father and mother. He marries a woman, and the two of them become like one person.
Gen 2:25 Although the man and his wife were both naked, they were not ashamed.Answer by unix
it is a question of what is morally right or wrong!
no amount of law changing /breaking will make gay marriage right!
the same applies to under age sex, or having children born out of wedlock…..sex and children are not the sin, it is how, when, where and who you you have them with which is the problem!!!!!!
Answer by MorganFreedom of religion, yes, but the rules are still determined by what the majority wants.
The gay marriage bans passed because of the black community. Call me racist all you want, but it’s true. A larger percentage of African Americans came out to vote this election and are, despite being Democrats, incredibly religious. They voted Obama and yes on the bans.
Answer by MythosSince when was it a purely secular issue?
“…a Christianity that would see gay marriage as valid.”
Yea. A compromised and completely corrupted “Christianity”
Are you gay? If not, why is the gay problem such an “issue” for you?
What stake do you personally have in it?
Or are you just here trying to show everyone how enlightened and liberal you are?
Answer by JoshAskI am not a Christian and not even a religious person, but I do believe that in a democratic society, people use votes to express their positions. Twice already, the majority of Californians have voted against gay marriage. Those anti-prop. 8 people should have accepted the voting results. Same sex couples are protected by California Family Codes under Domestic Partnership, there is no civil rights issue here.
Same sex marriage supporters often cited the oppression of inter-racial marriage to make a case for the same sex marriage. In fact, they are comparing apple to orange. Inter-racial couples were never given a legal option to protect their civil rights, which is very different from the entitlement that the same sex couples currently enjoy. For example, in the case “Loving v. Virginia,” the inter-racial couples were arrested by police who entered into their bedroom. This type of civil rights violation is not and will not be the case for the same sex couples in the U.S.
Personally, I think we as a society have already given gay people so much privilege comparing to the other kinds of abnormal sexual attractions. For example, some states have outlawed marriage between first cousins, but no one think it is unconstitutional.
Answer by elyonDon’t fret too much about your need to see perversion made into law so that you will feel better about the “rights” of everyone to do as they will. You will get your wish pretty soon, along with x-rated TV on public channels for the kids to watch, and many other “rights” will someday soon become law. For instance, Obama will sign the freedom of choice act into law again soon. He promised he would do so. This will make it legal to kill a child carried 9 months when it is on the way out of the womb, minutes before it draws its first breath. They will drill a hole in this “product of conception” (in the head, cause that’s the first thing they see) and suck the brain matter out. Yessiree, we’ll all get all the freedoms we so desperately long for. Hopefully, Jesus will rapture His bride out before this becomes common place. Your homosexuals getting married will be old news in those days. I’m sure all this is exciting to you, and you just can’t wait to have all this “freedom.”Answer by Isaiah Now
Who invented marriage? God instituted marriage. Therefore, it is God’s for all eternity.
However, if the world, who does not know God, wants to conduct their celebrations and rituals of marriage, then this Christianity here says that’s absolutely fine.
Freedom of religion doesn’t provide spiritual validation of the religion in question. A man made up that concept- which is contradictory to every statement about religion in the Bible. In fact “freedom of religion” is better interpreted “freedom from Christianity.” While meant, no doubt, to encourage tolerance amongst different factions, it opens the door to libertinism and flippant disregard for the peerless ideals of the Bible.
From a spiritual point of view, Gay marriage is a non-entity; a paradox; and homosexuality remains against Biblical principle. Saying “there’s a religion that will say gay marriage is okay” is correct- I’m sure some who are not Biblical Christians will no doubt agree Gays can marry.
But spiritually, God’s marriage was meant to unite man and woman, a spiritual and natural union- and the only one through which bringing forth a new generation, a new and legitimate family unit is possible.
Answer by capnarloSince God said this:
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. Genesis 2:24
God established marriage in the Garden of Eden . You may not like it , but that doesn’t change the fact that marriage is between a man and a woman as ordained by God. Therefore it is not a secular issue. As in the case of President elect Obama , so called Cristians who support homosexual marriage are going against the will of God. One can not be a true Christian and support it.
