monlee: Shouldn’t “falling in love” really be called “falling stupid?”?
You become so stupid when you fall in love. I’m NOT saying falling in love is a bad thing, but, sometimes, you fall in love with someone unworthy of your love. And, no matter how much you should have seen the signs that you two weren’t meant for each other, you can’t read the signs loud and clear until after you have broken up. Then, you are, FINALLY, righteously disappointed in yourself for being stupid enough to have fallen for that idiot, and you find yourself thanking God that you finally wised up. So, why is it that “falling in love” makes you so blind, and isn’t it pathetic that the “blindness” always happens to creep up on you no matter how hard you try to avoid it?
J.–Thank goodness it dies down after about 2 years! I’d hate to think that I might, possibly, still be with certain people if it didn’t! Great info.!!!
I just thought of this: maybe the phrase “falling in stupidity” would be more grammatically correct and parallel to the phrase “falling in love.”

You have a great point there !
You can be stupid without being in love – so this helps distinguish it fall all the other stupidity.
The “stupidity” from love comes from the hormone oxytocin released on contact with the significant other, which reduces stress, increases generosity and trust, which can conbine to blind people to their faults. It dies down after about two years.
