kr_afol: Should we pre-book accommodation when driving across the Nullarbor Plain?
We will be driving from Adelaide to Perth in November. Will we need to pre-book accommodation, and if so, how long ahead is recommended?

yes

Saw your post.
Can’t say that I know but when I was stationed in Exmouth, WA (US Navy) in the 70’s it was always humorous to note the bumper stickers “I crossed the Nullabar”. Obviously more than just an afternoon “walk about”. We had 2 seasons in Exmouth, hot & very hot. Perth was one of the cleanest cities I’ve ever visited.
Have fun.
Answer by BillybeanIts basically a three day hard drive across the Nullabor.
Check your map and your timetabling and see where you plan to be at any one point and book accordingly if you want to be sure of a soft bed.
On the other hand, take your swags and sleep where you stop.Answer by ellegee3012
2 yrs ago we drove from Melb to Perth….had no bookings….just planned to drive about 8-10 hrs a day and stay at a reasonable size town… had no trouble getting accom anywhere. After driving all day you are so grateful for a soft clean bed and a shower. Accom was great wherever we stayed. Try the web site Nullarbor net. I guess you have checked out the web sites. It is a great experience and one every Aussie should do at least once. We had a wonderful time. GOOD LUCK and ENJOY !!Answer by tuppenybitz
billybe is a little confused i think, you can drive from sydney to perth in 3 days! so the nullabor isnt that far across
no need to book accommodation, plenty of places to stay along the way, just plan to be near a town when you decide you have driven enough for the day
