We will all be 17 next year when we want to go, but the accommodation says we have to be over 21. Does anyone know of anywhere we could stay which is close to the beach?

Not in Polzeath itself, no. Unfortunately Polzeath gained a bit of a reputation some years ago as a place where school leavers (mainly those with ‘Daddy owning a holiday home’) went to celebrate the end of their exams, let there hair down and generally be a total pain in the rear for the residents, not saying that’s what you wanted to do but that is why most places now have this ‘over 21’ rule. It will be very hard for you to find anywhere outside of Newquay that does not have this rule, or at least insist you are accompanied by an adult. Having seen the damage caused to someone’s holiday home by a mixed group of ‘school leavers’ I can kind of see where they are coming from. While most young people are respectful to others you always get the minority that spoil it.

However, there are places in Newquay that cater for school leavers (16/17 year olds), lay on activites, entertainment etc. Can be found doing a google search 🙂 Good luck!
