DarwingotnastyontheBeagle: Should the person who hates gambling expect to have a share in the winnings?
Is it fair to have someone who hates gambling and thinks it is stupid to want to have a part of the winnings?
What if that person is a friend, lover, or spouse? Should they expect the winner to treat them for the rest of the vacation?
Any experiences with this? Does the amount of the winning matter?

If this person didn’t contribute in winning, then they have no legal or moral right to have any of the winning. It is now up to the person who won the money to decide if they want to share the winning with this person. It is nice gesture to buy dinner or something with the winning though as I believe that being generous also bring some good fortune as well..
It is completely up to the person who won the money or the prize what they do with this money and no other person has any right of claim to any of this money or prize if they did not contribute by either participation or financial help to fund the gamble that took place. Do what you want with your winnings, wouldn’t hurt to explain to this person how gambling does not always turn out bad, and you have proven this. Tell them you can not and will not treat them for the remainder of the vacation as you already have plans for your winnings. And no i don’t think the amount of the winning matters, its yours, not theirs, simple as that.Answer by pdq
What does it matter how you received the money? Ask yourself this – if you inherited a huge amount of money, would you share it with your spouse or friend or family member? WHY would you share it with them??? Maybe because you care for them and love them and want them to share in your fortune?
If you WOULD want to share an inheritance with someone for these reasons, then it shouldn’t make any difference if the money was gotten in any other manner. (Of course there are exceptions like if you stole the money or it came from selling drugs.)
***Important – back to your initial question – should they “EXPECT” to have a share? No. Same with any other money you might come into, and also the same even if they DID like gambling. They still shouldn’t “expect” anything. Nobody should expect it. My above answer is for the recipient of the money and what they should do, not what the other person should expect.
