Chase: Should i become a realtor, even with the bad economy?
I am 19 years old and just out of high school, and now i don’t know what to do. I don’t feel im am the college type. but i know its important to go to college. but first i would like to try out real estate for a year or more.I been interested in home since i was 8 years old, and i know that sounds young but i truly was. i have always been interested in the construction of homes, design, architecture, and even buying and selling of homes. I would appreciate other realtors opinions on whether its still ok to become a realtor with the way the housing market has been.
Also i know that if i get a real estate license then i can start buying apartments and renting them out to make a stable income for when I cant sell homes

Honestly there is money to be made in realty even with the economy in the shape it’s in. My dad is a Realtor and is doing quite well. It’s your choice to make in what you want to be but do not rule out being a Realtor because of the economy.
Many, many agents have left the business in the last few years. Until home sales pick up, you’ll struggle to get by. But when things improve, you’ll be there ready to do business.
If you’re willing to work hard and take it seriously, and can get by with possibly very little income for a couple years until things pick up, there’s no reason you shouldn’t go for it. But understand it will take time to become successful at it. Its a competitive business and home sale volume is way down.
