Desiree: Should a person’s culture and religion be respected if their culture and religion are harmful to others?
Say a people’s culture and religion demands that they have large families. This means there is rampant population growth within this culture. But overpopulation is a global problem that is affecting everyone on the planet. People with a culture of having large families are the leading cause of overpopulation that is harming our planet and jeopardizing the future of humanity. Should their culture and religion be respected if they are putting the lives of everyone else at risk?

That depends. One reason our earth can support so much life is because of technology and specialization. More people would help increase these two factors and thus create more room. Any society is built upon a given set of laws. When deciding which culture or set of laws are right, to which standard do you turn? If it is man’s opinion, one is as good as another. This is why God recorded the way in which He created all relationships to be and has given us the regulation of those relationships.
