How do you “Safely Remove” an e-Sata External HDD?

Peter Brown: How do you “Safely Remove” an e-Sata External HDD?
Hi there,

I purchased an external HDD with e-Sata enabled. When I connect it into my laptop, it dosen’t show up as a “Safely Remove….” on my taskbar.

Is it alright to take it out without the safely remove if its an e-Sata enabled or will my External HDD fail if I continually eject it like that?

Most of the time it will be alright, but it its not done transferring or processing information from one end to another you may lose that information.

If you shut the computer down and then unplug it, it should be fine.
