: How do you stop a puppy from biting us when playing?
My puppy is nine weeks old and is normally very well behaved, until he wants to start playing. When he starts playing, he gets violent and starts to think that our hands and feet are part of the game, so he ends up biting us. We’ve tried the usual stop biting sprays that are availible to buy, but the puppy seems to like the taste of them because he licks them off, before continuing to bite.
Does anyone have any ideas on what we can do to stop this happening?

you cant its called play biteing
Cry out and ignore him. After the bite whine/yip like another dog would when it gets hurt and then walk away. 🙂Answer by Rachel – Pit Police Captain
He’s playbiting. Puppies playbite with their litermates all the time. It certainly doesn’t mean he’s violent or agressive…just a normal pup. When playing, if he uses his teeth on you, squeal or yelp loudly, and then walk away. Ignore the pup completely until he’s in a calmer state. If you are consistant and do this every time his teeth hit your skin, he will eventually see reward comes with calm behavior.Answer by acleighx
Biting is normal for a puppy of that age, its his way of playing. He should stop when he gets older. Do not use the sprays and dont yell at him as he probably thinks that you ae playing with him.Answer by Nikkie M
You cant. Thats how puppies play. And you have to remember or know puppies will bite and chew. Just like babies.. They are teething.Answer by shrsandy
It’s perfectly normal and actually necessary that your Standard Poodle Puppy is biting and nipping. This is a normal part of a puppy’s social play and interaction.
I have a page on my website all about puppies and biting. Check it out, it might help.
