For my opinion, I am kind of biased on this subject. As European decendant, I think state and religon or government should be an entirely seperate entity.
If the person who is running for that office posses integrity, honesty and diplomacy, I do not think that religion should be counted into.
On the other hand, America was built on the faith of religion of our many ancestors. It’s this very phatom that keeps America going on for generations to come.
What is your opinion on this matter?
Why must we bash the Mormon faith?
As a Utahn and not a believer of the LDS church, so studied thourghly their believes, I come to the conclusion that we are really not aware that they are really true Christian folks. whether or not Mitt Romney has a faith based religious agenda to bring to the political catar pult needs to be seen. However, after listening to last weekends general conference, I have a little bit more understanding what the Mormon faith is all about. I think we ought not to judge others for whom they believe in. Rather judge them for their actions and contribution to a more common good!

Everybody has a god, whether it is The God, or A god, everyone serves somebody and has a belief system. What is important is that as part of that belief system, do they also believe in upholding the laws of the land and the Constitution or does their pomposity lead them to believe they are above 200 years of history, know better than all of humanity and need to turn a freedom loving, capitalist society into a godless socialist society. That’s my opinion on this matter.

It shouldn’t matter, and shouldn’t have any bearing on how they govern. But, these days one side of the fence makes each issue about their religion. I think they’ve forgotten about the First Amendment. For a country where you are supposed to be able to believe whatever you want, Christianity sure makes a lot of decisions in Washington.

I do not think that religion should play a part in it. I know there are so many different religions in this world and one person may hold it against them. And some people are not religious at all and that may affect the way they vote even if the candidate is qualified to be president.

Separation…is in the constitution of the old USSR, not in the US Constitution.

The government needs to leave the Church alone & the Church must not dictate laws. Societal morals have been the basis for most of our laws and are not a violation of the so-called separation.

Knowledge of a candidate’s religion is valid for our assessment of and support for or against him (or her); to deny or suppress knowledge of their beliefs would be dangerously unconstitutional and a disservice.

When a faith or religion might effect our Constitutional rights. And the Mormon Religion would effect our Constitutional Rights due to the nature of their faith. Especially considering that our Constitution disallows the government to form a religion for the country. We have one candidate that is dangerously tredding those waters because of his faith, and that is Romney. Though he will not say it, but he will have a Mormon driven administration, because of his faith and that is unconstitutional. The Mormon Church is a controlling cult, and this is a dangerous man to put in charge of our country.
