Mamaof2: What is the possibility of becomming pregnant if intercourse was on day 8 of a cycle, and ovulation on day 13?
As a mother of 2 children I should already know this, but my 2 children were concived by having intercourse a day or 2 before ovulation. But anywhere I search on the web, I cannot get the same answer. I’ve read that sperm can live up to only 3 days and on other sites saying that it can live up to 7 days! Very confussing. So what is the typical life span of a man’s sperm in the woman’s body?

I’ve got 3 young children and none were conceived near typical ovulation days. The last was even conceived the day after my period finished (I know this because it was hubby’s birthday and then he went interstate). I also tried to find out about this, my obstetrician just assumed that I ovulate early in cycle. Remember sex ed? they always said not to use calendar as form of contraception. Because of unusual dates of conceivement my due date was always calculated as different to the date given by an ultrasound.
