Does scratching of the vagina cause the clitoris to become inflamed?

: Does scratching of the vagina cause the clitoris to become inflamed?
I just recently shaved and so my vagina has been very itchy and I usually try not to scratch knowing it can cause even worse irritation. Today its been very itchy and I found myself scratching a lot and when I went to the restroom I noticed my clitoris was swollen. Could this be from the scratching? How can I get the swelling to go away?

Hello. Yes, any kind of irritation can cause swelling. The swelling will go down by itself. There’s really not much you can do for it. I know it’s hard, but try not to scratch so hard, because it will just cause more irritation. Take care 🙂
