Poll: When is it time to stop saying “Happy New Year” to people?

Colorado Teacher 🙂: Poll: When is it time to stop saying “Happy New Year” to people?
I’m all for wishing people happiness, but I think a few days or a week into the new year is about the time limit lol….but it’s up for debate! What do you think? At what point would you do a double-take if someone said “Happy New Year” to you lol? 🙂

Maybe by mid-January we could just start wishing people “Happy Year” lol. 🙂
Grace: of course I’m not going to say “Happy Year” to people, lol, I was just being silly! 😉

I would say after 3-4 days, it’s time to let it go. After that, the thrill is gone, the party is over, and it’s time to get back to work.

I think you only have to say Happy New Year in the first week of the year. I think saying it is silly anyway but part of making 1 out of 15 feel warm inside when they hear it.

Answer by Chalet
People are still saying it to me. I would probably stop on January 6th, the Epiphany, which is the end of the holiday season.

Maybe October?

Answer by Natasha B
Depends on who it is(strangers need not keep greeting that way but if it is a friend, family member or acquaintance of yours then the rules change) as annoying as it can become February 1 is the cutoff point(then I would began to wonder)

The reason I say this is maybe two or three weeks in to the year you see someone you have not seen(since the previous year) they will probably say it because it’s nice to see you both made it another year….

If you think about it, you probably wont see everyone you know within the first couple of days into the new year.

Same as if your birthday passed a few weeks ago and an old friend you have not seen lately saw you they would probably still wish you a happy belated birthday while your birthday has clearly passed(late for well wishing on a past date) it is the thought that counts…

Answer by httnmrtt
The second time you see them this year is when to stop saying HNY.
