Savannah: What would be the best parrot that isnt expensize and talks well?
I am looking to buy a parrot but don’t have buckets of money. I would like to spend less then 500$ but would also like a very intelligent cuddly bird that will be able to learn around 20 phrases and quiet a few words. I am not very experienced with birds and do not know what type would be most suitable for my requirements. If anyone can help me that would be great!

the African grey is the smartest and can be as smart as a three year old, but a cockatoo are very nice too, just do some research, i know most parrots dont go over 500 dollars and if they do its only a little, get ineresting breeds then look of the prices.
budgies/parakeets! they are small trainable and not expensive the world record for the bird to talk the most is 1,789 words from a parakeet!!Answer by jack
a hand reared quaker parrot costs from $ 150-$ 400 they are good talkers thought it os worth noting that the african grey which is widely considered the best talker and costs around $ 800 when hand reared yet i and many other people have african Grey’s (mine is older then my mother!) that don’t ever speak. and the common budgie $ 15 can sometimes learn loads of words! the truth is loads of parrots have the ability to talk but many don’t. The best cheaper birds to talk would be the senegal ($ 350) or the quakerAnswer by BRIAR :3
A budgerigar ( aka budgie / parakeet ) named Oskar currently holds the world record for “Largest Vocabulary” ( for birds, of course ). That being said, many parakeets have quite the extended vocabulary when trained correctly ( Mostly, the males. Females tend to be stand-offish & moody. ).
When a hand fed baby is purchased from a breeder, they are normally very friendly & kind. I’ve always got my budgies from breeders, and they’ve all been adorable lovable little things 🙂
Budgies, when bought from a very good breeder, tend to cost about 30-50 US dollars. Because they are smaller, they also don’t need to have massive cages, but a big cage is always nice for budgies, because they need lots of exercise 😉 Also, because of their small size, they tend to eat less & that cuts the cost as well. They’re my favorite bird I’ve ever owned by far.
But, for the sake of your future bird, I’d research it a little bit more. I hope I’ve helped!
