tell him to tell his parents it’ll save him money because you use less petrol and also it’s better for the environment and also it makes you a better driver (i read that in a magazine recently)

Prove that he’s responsible. Let him take his parents out somewhere in a manual car so that they can see that he can drive it. Best of luck to you and your friend,

Why’s he want a manual car?
Does he have experience?
If not does he have someone to teach him?
Is he going to be paying for gas/insurance?
Is he paying for the car?
If he already knows how to drive manual then explain to them that they get better gas mileage and are more reliable (if driven correctly)
If he’s going to be paying for the car, then talk to them and try to explain that it’s his investment and he would like it put his money into a manual car for whatever reason.
If he can’t drive one and isn’t paying that he should be happy that his parents are buying him a car in the first place. Not all of us are so lucky.
Answer by logicalgalI would argue that “shifting” with a manual transmission actually makes a driver pay more attention to what gear he/she is in at any given point in time…….i.e. watches out more for the color of the upcoming traffic light, is more aware of his/her speed and the need to shift up or down a gear……it also makes is more difficult to do other things while driving because of that need to shift gears and pay attention to what is going on out there on the road.
Driving a manual shift vehicle also better develops a driver’s observation skills and improves a driver’s co-ordination and skill level because a driver has to know which gear to be in well ahead of time, so that he/she doesn’t “lug” in too high a gear, or “stall” when pulling away from a stop.
Are those enough reasons to argue your point?
I bought a manual shift for both my children when they got their driver’s licence…….Answer by bungee
just tell him to buy his own car then the parents will have nothing to say about it.Answer by mister ss
tell the parents that a stick shift gets better gas mileage than an automatic.Answer by UCANTCME
Prove that your friend can drive a manual vehicle first would be the best thing to do instead of just getting one and having an accident………
