Beckay Cwoe: Omg i know im like the horse section spammer but one more question?
I was just wondering if around your barns you guys keep pin boards, where people advertise things etc. I live in the suburbs but there are large sections which are basically stables scattered around in my area. Would it be worth my time popping in to them to check if anyone is selling or leasing horses?

I board at a pretty private barn so no. We leave notes and schedules for other boarders/lesson kids but nothing like advertising outside of the barn.
I would call the barns and ask if you are interested in selling or leasing a horse. Especially before you just ‘pop in’. It would be more time worthy if you called.

Yes, it’s very worthwhile. I was once at a show and I saw an ad for a lovely, capable young horse. They have small ads (the size of a sheet of computer paper usually) that advertise saddle repair, horse massage, saddles for sale, horses for lease, etc! If that doesn’t work, then ask the owner or manager of the stable to show you some horses for sale. I went to a big barn and asked the owner whether any of her boarders were selling their hunt seat horses. There were several. Good luck 🙂Answer by oOMelissaOo
It would probably be worth your time. People advertise where they know the people they’re trying to reach will see it. Selling horses or leasing makes sense to advertise at a barn. I’d check out your kcal barnsAnswer by Aamanda
Just a note. Any barn ANY BARN private or not should have no problem with someone showing up without calling. As long as your not wandering around an empty barn. If they have a problem tell them you were looking into boarding. If they have a problem they have something to hide.Answer by n
you could pop in the offices and askAnswer by OTTB
Generally stables are pretty private and our board only advertises when someone is having the dentist, farrier, feed delivery etc out. Most people all know of each others horses and what’s going on with them.
Check with local feed and saddlery stores. Quite often they will advertise horses for sale or lease.

I don’t board my horses so I don’t know about barns. but I would check feed stores they usually have pin boards like that or the people working their may have heard of some one who is looking to sell a horseAnswer by Driver
Most barns do have some sort of bulletin board, but it’s usually mostly filled with info for the boarders, and may have a horse for sale if it’s in that barn. You’d do better by going to the local tack and feed stores, where people will bring their for sale flyers to post to the whole community. If you are considering a lease, it’s probably best to just call the barns since they might have horses to lease, but might not have them advertised.Answer by Dee
Where I am from a lot of them will be posted online, otherwise the feed stores have bulletins, and the shows usually have them too. You could call a stable and ask about horses for lease. Take less time/gas driving around to each stable.Answer by Annuh
I board at a reallyy private barn, but they still put up if they are leasing or selling the horses boarded there or if they are selling tack. Nothing about horses or people outside the barn. They also post if any nearby shows are coming up, but that’s about it.
If you’re looking I would go to local tack shops. They are always filled with horse ads in my experience! Good luck 😀
Answer by Black RoseIt depends on the barn… but judging completley from mine i think itd b a good idea. we’ve got a board with horses for sale and lease, not sure if it gets paid attention to or not but its there!
