Jacob L: My computer keeps on popping up with “new hardware found!”?
Even though I have not attached any new hardware. This happens every time I boot up, and eventually I tried to fix it by installing the driver it wanted me to install. Unfortunately, it didn’t do anything to help, and now the computer is constantly putting the little “new hardware” image in my icon tray, and making an annoying little popping noise. Anybody have any idea how to fix the problem?
I run Windows XP, and I also KNOW it is not a virus.
One more thing. Just found out that I can’t even open “Add Hardware” wizard, as it says it’s running and can’t do anything till it finishes installing the new hardware. Now considering it’s been running for about an hour now, and there is no new hardware, it’s basically sitting there doing nothing. Is there any way to close it using task manager?

right click my computer icon goto properties click hardware tab click on device manager if any yellow question marks show up in this list then the devices they describe need drivers re installing for them if no problems show here then it is something else but it just sounds like a device is poorly installed or has somehow lost its driver
other wise there is a bad problem with a device if its something that is removable then remove it and see what happens on reboot.
Answer by StephYour computer has acknowledged a peripheral device, they are storage, input or output devices. This could be speakers, printer, microphone, keyboard, flash card etc.. anything that can be connected to a computer. Basically its an external part that is not integrated with the processing unit. Therefore your computer is looking for drivers. Use the Internet to find the compatible program or driver to support the device.
Microsoft windows should give you the option to search your computer for one or go with the net.
Hope I helped.
