GrayWolf: Laptop?!?!?
I am just going into college and need to get a laptop. I don’t know much about computers. I am going to be in a lot of art classes which will involve having to download different softwares onto my laptop. I don’t want to spend more than $ 1,500. What is my best choice?

do you want a mac or a pc? I recommend a Mac, seeing as your an artist, but it’s up to you.
Download a lot of software ? Then a Windows PC would be the best. Since Mac’s doesn’t support everything out there.Answer by chris

Snag a decent Dell. Dell has cheap prices with good quality, and you can customize fairly well. For that price, you can get a sturdy laptop that’s going to last you several years. HP is crap, Comcrap explains itself, Alienware is mostly for gaming… Dell does laptops right.Answer by jwfspmg33
The Mac ibook would be your best option as an art student, however these tend to get pricey and may put you over your budget. However, if you are looking for a quality laptop that has endless possibilities and will last you for 6+ years, this is the way to go. If you are looking for just a pc check out Circuit City and Best Buy as they always have good deals and bargains of the week. How much you spend from here will depend on how what you want as far as memory, storage, software, and processor speed.Answer by Bub J

get a white MacBook with 2.4 ghz processor, 2GB/4GB of memory, and a 160GB/250GB HD. thats the way to go, apple laptops are creative powerhouses, and most art/creative applications are both supported and have the most potential on the Macintosh.Answer by ★SUMMER ’08★
Don’t listen to the other answers for this question. Sure, a mac might look great but you don’t need it. Also Mac’s don’t support a lot of software out there and they don’t support internet downlaods, so that wouldn’t be for you. Also, someone said that HP is crap. Well, HP is NOT CRAP, they work perfectly and you can customize it to what you need and for your price range. Dells are pretty good laptops but some of them have a problem with the paint chipping off on the front cover and hand rests. The Sony Vaio is great, but with some of them, the battery slips off really easily. If that isn’t a problem for you, I recommend any of those three. I think any of the HP Pavillion dv6000 series (dv6700t, and all those other ones that start with dv6….) would be good for you, plus they look great and will last long.
Hope this helps!
