Sam: Job interview “good girl”?
Well today I had job interview and the man keep saying ,”oh good girl” over and over when ever i am done responding to his question.
I don;t know why but it bothered me a great deal, I’m in my early 20’s and he is like 50 something but still it’s just weird to say the least.
tell me what you think
it’s a normal phrase, but when you are in professional setting it comes off as sexist and degrading.
beside i’m a woman not a girl

It would bother me too… How condescending. Would this guy be your boss? You might want to think twice about accepting the job if he would be.
I think you shouldn’t get the job if normal phrases bother you .
Do you go on girl’s nights out or do you call them women’s nights out ?
Answer by Blue Eyed Christian Returns!Ugh, that’s extremely condescending. What are we, four? No. That’s why it bothered you a great deal – he’s talking to you like you’re a little child, or a pet dog, or not very smart. Either way, yech.
I don’t know whether to wish you luck with the interview or not…obviously you need the job, but then you’d have to work for him. : /
Answer by GirlWhoAsks2Many?’sHe may not have noticed that you could take it in a derogatory way. He was most likely saying it to be polite and thinks that is it gentlemen like to address you in a such a way. I wouldn’t worry about it, but if you’re that offended, talk to him if you get the job and tell him you would like to be addressed as your name and not seen differently than any other workers because of you gender.Answer by Laura B
Yes, it’s condescending, and whether he is aware of it or not is sort of beside the point. Would he have said, “Oh, good boy,” to a man? Of course not.
