I have just seen a youtube video discussion that states that circumcision reduces sexual sensation. Is there any truth to this? Does this mean that circumcised men will never be able to have the same sexual experience that uncircumcised men do? Is it possible that this reduces the level of orgasm, or sexual pleasure?

The removed “mid section” of shaftskin is nerve rich and designed to detect movement and keep the head healthy and protected. Having mobility in the shaft also helps reduce “rawing friction” to the woman by helping to keep her lubricated. All that said though, the actual difference is hard to judge. Circed guys will still enjoy sex and can still have strong orgasms, but you are right they will never have the same sexual experience an intact guy has. Even a guy circed as an adult wouldn’t be fair to compare against a guy circed at birth. And speaking of that, not getting a choice about your body can have a negative psychological impact that can affect some people as well. ALSO, unlike what the first guy mentioned, “more sensitivity” doesn’t mean a simple amplification of pleasure, it means a wider range of feeling and control.

As for other differences, having an immobile shaftskin makes oral/foreplay type things a bit more difficult and less pleasureable for both partners. Saliva isn’t exactly the best of lube, and lubrication products dont exactly taste good. With an intact guy you just move the skin, all the crazy gripping positions and tecniques are less important.

ADD: Pat and Keven brought up the whole circed as adults thing I mentioned earlier. Essentially, there are a few big problems when trying to compare circed as adults with infant circ. Those cut as adults probably had some sort of problem with their foreskin that needed circumcision so by removing the foreskin it got rid of the discomfort or pain that made sex and masturbation uncomfortable. If the person got circed by preference, the other problem is that the guy circed as an infant has had 15+ years of the head being exposed and building up resistance. Not to mention the potential psychological issues I mentioned above. A guy circed as an adult does it because he had to or wanted to, it is his decision, he gets to experience both and get the circ the way he wants. A guy circed as an infant gets no choice and for some people that can have a negative psychological impact especially considering how controversial the topic is. Some see it as a forced cosmetic procedure… and aesthetics are subjective.

ADD: Sporty Guy says extra pleasure is bad because women complain about guys not lasting long enough… perhaps that is because so many guys have been altered from what was naturally given. Going from a specialized mobile shaftskin to immobile shaftskin wouldn’t affect only the guy’s experience.

An orgasm is an orgasm (yet it will always feel different to different people and at different times). But the feeling of an orgasm has nothing to do with whether you are circumcised or uncircumcised or have a penis or a clitoris. The sensation of orgasm has been studied and the autonomic bodily reactions that people exibit during orgasm is consistent between men and women and usually for about the same period of time so in general they all feel the same thing during orgasm.

Now as far as sensation goes, yes many studies have shown that a circumcised penis is slightly less sensitive than an uncircumcised penis. All that means is that it’s slightly more difficult for a circumcised man to achieve an orgasm than an uncircumcised man. The reasons for this are two:

1) the foreskin contains thousands of nerve endings on the ridged band which are pleasure sensitive. These are all removed during circumcision which means that you only have about half to of the pleasure sensitive nerves left on the penis.

2) the glans of the penis also contains many nerve endings responsible for orgasm and with a foreskin protecting it the glans remains moist and sensitive to touch. When the foreskin is removed and the head is constantly exposed, it keratinizes and becomes less sensitive. For uncircumcised guys, retracting the foreskin for a long period of time is uncomfortable because the head is too sensitive and is irritated by the friction of rubbing against the underwear. This doesn’t bother circumcised guys because their penis head is less sensitive.

Ultimately, the level of sensitivity loss isn’t significant enough so that a circumcised man can’t achieve orgasm nor does it significantly reduce pleasure because most circumcised guys have been that way since they were born so thats all they know. If you have never experienced having a foreskin before, then you would never know what you were missing so at the end of the day it doesn’t effect you at all.

There is a growing movement of guys who are interested in “foreskin restoration” to restore sensitivity but how successful this is is debatable.

(Oh and the reason why Kevin (down below) is still extremely sensitive after circumcision is because he was only cut a few months ago. Obviously it takes years to become less sensitive and eventually the rubbing in his underwear will not bother him. He basically just proved my point though….)

Yes, its true. No, a circumcised man can NEVER have the same experience as a cut men. Even a man who restores his foreskin cannot ever regain all the specialised structures and sensitive nerve endings that were lost in the original procedure. I know about 50 people just gave you good evidence of the nerve endings being cut, but i just got circ’ed about a couple months ago, and truthfully its so sensitive that i cringe sometimes from it rubbing the pants. I dont think i could take it being any more sensitive than that. Oh no all the nerves were cut… hahaha im sure.

Yes there is truth to this. It depends on the individual and of course it’s really hard to compare. But there have been studies that show uncircumcised men are more sensitive than circumcised men. For a start they have the foreskin, that is sensitive in itself. Secondly their glans is always protected (except during sexual activity or cleaning) which would make it more sensitive just like if you wear a bandaid for a few days the skin underneath would be more sensitive. I’m not sure if it would affect orgasm or not because I would think that would be more internal. But circumcision can cause problems for some men reaching orgasm, if it was done too tightly. I’m guessing it’s probably uncut guys have different types, a richer experience, of sensation rather than just “more” if that makes sense. Most guys circumcised as adults (without foreskin problems or a preference for a circumcised penis) say that they lost sensitivity.

(Kevin’s answer above actually seems to support this, after circumcision the previously protected glans is so sensitive one would “cringe” sometimes, it takes years after that to gradually dull the sensation.)

Studies have shown that circumcision does not reduce sexual sensation. Circumcsion will desensitize the penis to the normal touch but according to most men who were circumcised as adults there is no loss during sexual sensation. There have been studies connected with this. You have had two posts from two anticircumcision people. One of the doesnt even have a penis but she is not afraid to give her opinion. Oh goodness, yes. When circumcised, up to 10,000 nerve endings or more are cut away. No one can tell me that having those nerve endings intact is not more pleasurable. Not only that but the foreskin covering the glans protects it. When a man is circumcised there is no protection and with all that stimulation constantly it (the glans) becomes desensitized.
There is foreskin restoration but that only works somewhat- not nearly as if it had never been cut.

I would’ve thought that was obvious and logical. When you’re circumcised the head of the penis is permanently exposed to friction and becomes keratinized, also there are features of the foreskin which considerably add to sexual sensation.

Yes, many people don’t realise it is the foreskin, not the glans that is the most sensitive. You have thousands of touch-sensitive nerves on the underside of the foreskin These are stimulated as the skin rolls up and down the shaft

Also add to that the effect of keratinization – which is where new skin grows on the glans because the glans gets irritated now it is exposed. The glans becomes less and less sensitive over time as the skin gets thicker. Keratinization is the reason they say circumcision reduces the chances of getting AIDS – which is a load of rubbish – like all the other studies saying there are benefits to circumcision.

Why should more sensitive skin are needed when mostly what we hear nowadays is that most women does not satisfy enough. The game is too short. Viagra are needed to let man fully charged. Man nowadays are so weak that they need other external intervention to provide the need of one women yet they are looking for ways to satisfy a lot of women and quick ways to feel the sensation. Well, the penis head is very sensitive. But when your circumsized its constantly exposed so its always rubbing against your boxers and pants etc, which dulls the sensitivity after awhile. But uncircumsized penises have the skin covering their head when they aren’t erect so yeah.

The foreskin is supposed to protect the head of the penis from friction and according to studies circumcised men loose sensitivity as they get older.

Plus circumcision was popularized in the US to prevent boys from masturbating.
