berrytrain: Is there ANY differences between renting a condo and renting an apartment?
I rented a condo today. The condo is owned by a large corporation. It is in a condo community. Most of the condos are privately owned. But a few are corporate owned, and rented out. Is there any difference between renting a condo and renting an apartment? Is a condo building built better than an apartment building? Why is it called a condo, and not an apartment? I really don’t get it. Thanks.

As far as I knew, Apartment buildings are usually owned by one party, and everyone living there is a renter.
Condo’s can be owned individually and the owners live in them and some Condo’s don’t allow renting
Answer by Eric McTagueCondos are basically apartments that people can purchase and own. Normal apartments are only rented, not sold, and one person or organization generally owns the entire building. The difference between renting the two shouldn’t be much, except possibly price in some cases. As a renter of a condo, you may be able to work out a rent-to-own arrangement with the company that owns it, if you end up liking the place a lot.
