MiKeY!: Is tattooing painful?
Someone also told me that tattooers also use some sort of paint to add the colour… do the paints last forever like that tattoo itself?! What are they made of?
Also, can we ‘erase’ a tattoo to make way for a new one? Or it’s permanent?!

tattoos are forever. you can have them removed but the procedure is far more painful than the tattoo itself. It is ink that is used not paint. Color does fade over the years as does the entire tattoo.
The colour in a tat can fade but will never go away entirely. You can’t erase tats, you can laser them away leaving behind a faint scar/discoloring. You can put another tattoo over an old one but you are limited on what can cover the previous one depending on the design.Answer by br@ski
yes when you first start to get the tattoo it hurts but you get used to the needle! tattoo’s last forever unless you get them lasor removed and tattoo’s are made of ink that is what they are is just ink!Answer by Rae Elizabeth
If by “erase” you mean get rid of, kind of. Laser surgery is always an option–but it is about 5 times more painful than a tattoo, and it almost always leaves a bad scar behind.
And if by ” paint” you mean color, yes. It does last forever. Different colors are made of different things.
Tattoos are almost always permanent and they are really hard to get rid of. Don’t waste the time and pain to get something if you are just going to pay $ 2000 to get it removed later.
Answer by BrushPicksYou should think about what happens if you dont want it or change your mind about it.
Its permanent
and it cost thousand of dollars to remove
painful and leave a nasty scar on your skin.
Answer by Josh CTattooing isn’t painful. GETTING a tattoo hurts a bit.
What the artist does is put about 5-10 needles in a tattoo gun that makes the needles move back and forth VERY quickly. He dips the needles in a special tattooing ink.
It’s permanant, but after time, as your body gets rid of old skin, your tattoo DOES tend to fade a little, but you’ll still see it.
They CAN be removed but that requires EXPENSIVE and even MORE painful laser treatments to burn the ink out of the skin.Answer by DPH MEL
Inks are not cut with paint! Tattoos last forever, but fade. Pigments make up the ink and we cut the ink with different types of soaps. There is also a veggie ink that is in the works that the FDA are trying to get put in use. However, the ink would fall out after a few years. Meaning you pay for a tattoo that wont last.Answer by Laura
THINK BEFORE YOU INK….TATTOOS ARE FOREVER!!Answer by Vinzon
there are 2 kinds of tattoo
1st the permanent kind quite painful but much painful to burn it off to erase it
*I know most of you are only thinking of of this one
BUT
2nd the removable kind it only uses ink not painful at all
you can find lots of article on removable tattoos in yahoo
Tattoos are painful (depending on your threshold of pain, personally I am a coward and don’t even like the idea of the needles poking me) and they are permanent.
Personally I would suggest getting the art work you want done in Henna first.
Henna is a skin stain that lasts about 2-3 months. After that time if you really want to keep the art you might consider the tattoo option.
However, if you are already having doubts or thinking of removing it. I suspect the Henna option is the best choice for you. As it is not permanent and if you want you can always freshen it up with a henna overlay, if you want. Or let one fade away and do a totally different design later.
Just my thoughts on it.
I will add one more suggestion, NEVER EVER TATTOO SOMEONES NAME ON YOUR BODY. I guarantee it will come back to bite you later.
Answer by Courtotattoos can be painful…it just depends on the person who is getting it and where. no they dont use paint they use ink!! some shops guarentee their color for life….others dont. you cant erase a tattoo you have to spend alot of money getting it removed. and i think it takes like 6 procedures for one 4×4 tattoo and its more painful than the tattoo itself….so dont get one if you dont want it there forever!Answer by pug lover
Is having a baby painful???? lol….oh wait, ur a guy so is sticking a knife in ur eye painful?? J/K….but to answer u seriously, yes it is kinda painful…….but I must say, I think it depends a lot on the location. I have 3 tats & the one that hurt the least was my eyebrows! I hardly felt that. I talked to the guy the whole time & was trying not to move around from laughing during the proceedure. I also have “Gods girl” on the back of my neck (also did not really hurt at all), but the butterfly on my upper thigh close to my groin, hurt like a bugga!! It seems to me the places w/more fat hurt worse. And I found the color did not hurt as much as the outlining. The paints will need to be redone over a few yrs. The time frame depends on the person…the type of skin itself plays a roll in that… so some may need to have it redone every 15 yrs as opposed to others every 5. Also, the sun is a big factor in fading the colors. Put sun screen on when ur outside!
They are made of ink that is inserted through a needle breaking the skin. Tats are permanent, but can be covered over. It is a long, expensive, process & never can be totally gone for good. (Angelina Jolie’s left arm is a good example.) =)
Oh and P.S. I’ve seen grown men crying getting tattoos. I’ve also had those same men watch in awe as I had mine done w/out blinking an eye. I also have had 2 kids!!!!
Answer by K Ktatoos are permanent, that’s the whole idea!
And as for are they painful, well, they ARE done with needles, so I wouldn’t describe the experience as ticklish. I was surprised personally at how easy the pain is to tolerate though. It also depends on where you get it on your body (things like feet, ribcage etc are VERY painful) and the artist’s experience (this also applies to how well/quick it heals). Also how big the tatoo is. For instance, of my many tatoos I will use 2 as an example. 1 is very small, it only took about 45 minutes to do and is solid black. It stung for the first few minutes then my body’s adreniline kicked in and it was more annoying than painful. the other one is BIG, it took about 5 hours and has lots of colour. Lots of the coloring was overlapping as well which adds to the pain. Again stung for about 5 minutes, felt bearable (I could talk and laugh etc no problem) for the next 2 hours but once my adrenaline ran out it was agony. Still, it was worth every minute in that chair, it is gorgeous!!
Answer by *the one*tattoos at first feel a bit painful but you get used to the needle vibration so it goes away, the part i hate is the itching/healing part…cuz u can’t scratch!!
u can get tattoo removal but i’ve heard it’s far more painful and probably more expensive so make sure you won’t regret the ink u receive…embrace it and love it!!!
Answer by BaybehThe pain is bearable. I cried when I got one of my tooth pullled out, and I screamed like I was being murdered when I had freeze put into my thigh, and honestly, the tattoo is bearable. Before I got my tattoo, I scratched my back super hard with my nails to see if I could stand the pain, and the tattoo hurt less than me scratching my back. Mines my whole back piece and I only have the outline, but the pain isn’t really as bad as you think it is!
