Is it possible to take college courses even though im a Jounir in Highschool?

LittleBaneling: Is it possible to take college courses even though im a Jounir in Highschool?
Im thinking about taking physics in a community college. My school doesnt have AP Physics, so im planning on maybe taking it at a community college? I know it wont be AP, but will count as college credit.
Which way is better? I’ve heard taking something at a community college looks better for 4 year university’s.
Thanks for your help guys!

Please accept this in the spirit in which it is given: If you want to take high school classes, wait until you are more proficient in the language you speak, i.e. English. You may be a whiz at physics, but if you cannot express your ideas in an articulate manner, you are wasting your time.

If you are looking at taking physics at your community college I would check with the schools that you are considering to ensure that they would accept the credit and it is acceptable at the level you are needing. For example if you are needing calculus based physics for pre-med and the physics course you are taking is algebra / trig based then the physics course is not worth the time.

To answer your question which is better Advanced Placement or physics from a community college my feeling without knowing more information I would say they are about the same.

Will it count towards your high school? Do you need it to? These are important factors. Keep in mind that grades for that college course, if required for your univ program of choice, would need to be sent to them by transcript, which can be expensive and at the very least is time-consuming. Also, if you are only a JUNIOR you may need higher-level courses before you can take the course at a college.

My university had a local program where one could take 1-2 university credits for free, provided one had completed a Grade 12 U-level (intended for students bound to university) credit. This is what I did. Be aware that post-sec courses may not conform to your school schedule; most of my university’s science courses ran during the daytime, so I had to choose a social sci course.
