J.A.: Is it possible to mix or combine 10 comet goldfish with one medium size parrot cichlid fish?
1/8 parrot cichlid fish is living right now in a 60 gallon tank and we wanted to mix like 10 comet goldfish if possible, so it would have buddies. Would my parrot cichlid dominate all those 10 comet fish?

are the comets small? if they are the parrot will devore them, destroy them, finish them.
60 gallons is to small for that many comet goldfish and its not a a very good idea to mix tropical and coldwater fish together so noAnswer by KiwiLove15
umm not a good idea
cichlids are aggressive to other types of fish and can only be kept with fish of the same type and origin. comet goldfish are actually fed as feeders to the cichlids at my school so i wouldnt recommend it unless u intend the fish to be a mealAnswer by confused
10 comets would need a very large pond to live in,60 gallons is not even close to being big enough for them. They grow to be 2 feet long as adults.
Goldfish are also cold water, and cichlids are warm water. They should not be mixed in the same tank due to the temperature difference that is required to keep the safely.
I would get similar sized cichlids if you want to get more fish for that tank.
Answer by ice queenyou cant mix them because the comet is a gold fish and cold water and the parrot fish is a tropical fish needing a heater in its tankAnswer by Finatic
It’s possible, but it’s going to kill all the fish involved. Comet goldfish need coldwater and the cichlids are warm water fish. A 60 gallon tank is only the minimum size needed for a single comet goldfish.
Your parrot cichlid won’t live long enough to dominate anything because it die from the enormous amounts of waste goldfish produce.
You should never, ever mix tropical fish with cold water fish. And putting 10 goldfish that will each grow to be nearly a foot long in a 60 gallon tank is ridiculous.
Absolutely NO goldfish for this tropical tank.
Answer by PSOs galNOO cichlids fish need heat and comet fish need cold water. Two totally different envirments. If the comet goldfish are placed in the heated tank they will die and vice versa.Answer by tikitiki
You’d be better off adding a few more parrots in there-I have a gaggle of parrot fish in one of my tanks, they’re a riot together. Or, look into some other cichlids, like severums, firemouths, some of the more peaceful varieties will be fine with your parrot fish.
Depending on his personality, he may or may not be the “boss”. Mine have always been the dominant ones in the tank(when I had them mixed with other fish earlier), but they’ve never been mean or aggressive to the other fish.
