Roxii: Is a graphing calculator necessary for geometry?
I’m going to be taking an online geometry class very soon and I’m worried that I’ll need a graphing calculator. All I have is a standard scientific calculator. Will I still be able to do well without a graphing calculator?

Graphing calculators aren’t necessary, no. Even a scientific calculator is kind of over kill for geometry. Depending on the class you may run into the trig functions sine, cosine, and tangent, at which point you’d need a calculator, or a table of values (that’s how they did it in the olden days), but I seriously doubt you’ll see them in geometry.
A graphing calculator is used more in algebra II, which is usually the next class after geometry. Geometry is all proofs and figures, which can be done with scientific calculator. However, I would recommend the TI-nspire for geometry because of it’s visual qualities. You can use the graphs & geometry app for visualizing a problem, and even calculating lengths. I have one, and I used it in my geometry class– I couldn’t live without it.
