My internet constantly keeps shutting of about every five minutes, for about one minute then comes back on. Theres a box that pops up on the toolbat that says local area connection unplugged, but i checked it about 5 times today and everything is in place, besides a spot that says ‘USB” and i dont know if anything goes there. its been going on for about three weeks now. i have comcast internet, and am not very technical so no fancy computer talk words please. thanks.

The little pop up window from the tool bar means that the computer is loosing connection with the DSL MODEM.
There are several reasons for this.
1. The cable is faulty or not plugged in correctly.
2. The Modem is faulty.
3. Network Interface card on PC is fault is faulty.
3. Spyware or a Virus.
Need to know how your pc connects to the DSL MODEM.
BY Ethernet Cable (Blue) with a RJ-45 8 Pin Moduler connector or USB Cable.
IF you connect with a USB cable, you should consider switching to an Ethernet Cable. They work better.
You should call Comcast and ask for their advice.

Answer by The PhlebobBelieve it or not, there may be nothing you can do about this. It sounds like your cable modem can’t maintain reliable contact with the modem at Comcast’s end and tries to recover it. .
Your best bet would be to contact Comcast Technical support and tell them your problem. I, too, have Comcast, and you have my sincere condolences for the experience you’re about to go through.
They’ll probably tell you to take the modem in (hopefully, locally) and get a replacement. I hope that works, because proving anything else of theirs is amiss is a much harder task.
Much good luck.
