im a beginner tattooer. and my lines are always scratchy and light. its like no matter what angle i hold the needle. what colors i use. how deep i go. and at what volts i have my machine set at my lines are always very light and a lot of times scratchy. and the when the tattoos heal they are very light compared to my professional ones. is it my machine or the needless are just junk? what can i do?

Yes, it sounds to Me as if Your needles are trashed. Also check the gap on Your contact points when You depress the armature bar down with Your finger. The gap should be the thickness of a dime for Your liner, and the thickness of a nickel for The shading machine. This adjusts the travel of the needle.
Make certain that Your needle is always traveling perfectly straight up and down, with no side movement, or Your lines will come out crappy. If it still doesn’t work, replace Your armature springs, and grommets.
