i think i know the main reasons why most girls are insecure?

many guys ask why girls are so insecure and i’m pretty sure i’ve figured it out
reason 1(media ) the way media portrays beauty in women and girls is that the only way for them to appear attractive and beautiful is with all the makeup and perky breasts

of course they can’t look like that naturally so they begin to consider what they naturally look like to be repulsive
people will see a female who looks pretty with the makeup and flattering clothes and wonder why she thinks shes ugly and its because she is the only one who knows what she really looks like: the only one who knows all of her flaws beneath the makeup

and of course breasts are not going to be perky naturally because of a thing called gravity so they get insecure over that and wind up getting ” breast implants ”

Reason Two ( competitive nature )
they will compare themselves to other females a lot, however when observing the other person they only seem to concentrate on the good in their appearance and what they look like in make up as opposed to concentrating on her own natural appearance

if the girl is prettier or thinner ( often ) she will want to vent her frustration and jealousy by spreading rumors and calling her names ( sl*t, wh*re,b/tch , etc )
a lot of times when comparing herself to the other girl they will have different body types
the other girl will have a smaller body type and she will see herself as fat compared to the girl with the smaller body structure even if they have the same B.M.I, because she won’t consider that the other girl has a smaller body structure

Reason 3 ( name calling )
like i stated previously a jealous girl will call another girl names in a heartbeat, she may even call her ugly or fat or something out of anger and jealousy

the other person believes this and becomes insecure and then she will call others names and a cycle is created !

on a side note, why is it that female insecurity seems to come almost exclusively from appearance ?

i barely ever hear a girl upset about how she thinks she is too dumb ( not that i would want that )

the only other common one is( insecurity about thinking she is a sl*t )

The corporations and their media have monetised female competition and exploit insecurity while women are trained to blame ordinary men and patriarchy for it, so the corporations get to continue about their business.

Well I’m glad that someone sees and understand this.

All because of media and how they portray ‘perfection’ in women.
They need to feed those scrawny models.
They need to hire “average” looking actresses.

Media is the leading cause of eating disorders, obsession in surgeries and depression.

Media makes men think women should be skinny, have curves and with big breasts.
Well, men…. the women who have all three are much likely to be ‘fake’ – that’s your Barbie.

For the ladies out there – you are beautiful in your own way. Don’t let anyone put you down!

I think that if a woman feels insecure, your stated reasons are probably correct as far as making her feel insecure…

However, being “insecure” doesn’t automatically make a woman slather on the makeup, schedule an appointment for a boob job, and gag herself with a spoon…

If a person goes THAT far to impress other people, they need psychological help… Not a boob job.

Personally I think it’s the other way around..

I’m quite insecure, I’m the tall, skinny, flat chested type. I put this down to for the majority of my teenage years, I was best mates with a shorter, gorgeous, curvy, booby girl and she knew everyone thought she was beautiful. And for many years, every single guy I ever liked chose her over me. Which I don’t take as her being a better person because she treated everyone quite badly and manipulated others, I took it as guys chose her looks before looking at her personality.

She called ME the names, she always said big boobs are better and that was the reason no guys liked me and purposely went out to get any guy I liked to prove the point.

Girls are bitchy :/

It’s also because parents give their daughters toys like dolls which are pretty much only aimed at being aesthetically pleasing.

I don’t see why girls wouldn’t be able to enjoy toys like Lego and science experiments, which can lead to interest in innovation and creativity; but it seems like most people think otherwise.

No wonder there’s a lack of women in fields such as engineering.

You don’t think teenagers (both boys and girls) natually go through an insecure period before they mature? Maybe the media worsens it by pressuring girls to look good and boys to earn money also girls expect boys to have money and a car while boys expect girls to look good. This is the cycle of life.

I agree completely with this. I honestly don’t know who thought it was a good idea to blame men when women are ultimately in control of their bodies. Men never demanded that women get plastic surgery; women noticed that some women were naturally more beautiful than them and they couldn’t handle it. You can’t blame men for looking. Can’t blame certain men for getting caught up in fantasy land when so many women are eager to alter their natural selves to look “perfect”. I’m ashamed of people who get plastic surgery, to be honest. It shows a lack of self respect and self esteem. Any self esteem gained from surgery is built on a false foundation. As soon as that person ages they will panic and get more work done.

You’re spot on though. Being exposed to a high volume of media bullsh** when I was very young exacerbated pre-existing issues and I was diagnosed with body dysmorphic disorder at 12. Men had nothing to do with it; it was the women in the media who’s sole purpose was to perpetuate the idea that a woman is nothing more than a photograph or a masturbatory aid.
