Annie: I Need Help, Please take a few minutes to answer my question?
Ok for a while I’ve noticed my increasingly desire to becom a Neuro(brain)surgeon I am going to be a sophmore next year. My freshman year in high school was alright (grade wise) I got a 3.3 but I took honors classes and should have paid more attention to my studies. So basically I thought I had no shot for college and was bullied at school, I know better now not to let that effect my future. And, I’m fully aware that there are not many women neurosurgeons in the U.S either (only 200) But the thing is I’m really good at chemistry I usually don’t say this but chemistry, and Anatomy are one of the only subjects that I adore more than anything, so if I am doing a great job in my science classes and well average in my Arts, English, and language (french) do I still have a chance for pre-med at harvard, or Johns Hopkins. I know the competition is rough and I may not have the money and requirements yet, but do you think there is a chance for me, what should I do to stand out more?
I really want this more than anything, to be the first in my family to get into an ivy league, and into medicine

What you really need to do is contact the universities you’re interested in attending. Their admissions officers would be able to tell you exactly the kind of student they are looking for, the curriculum you need and what extra curricular activities are good. Frankly, anything you’re told up here is worthless — I doubt Harvard admission counselors lurk about.
You will never know if you don’t try. Loving chemistry and anatomy as you do, I would think a career as a pharmacist would be something you might also think about.
From what little I know of elite universities, if they accept you, they will help you finance your education. They’ll steer you to good student loan deals.
Good luck!
