Allen L: I am trying to apply for a credit card, but keep on getting turned down, what should I do?
I would like to build up some credit for the future, but credit card companies would reply back and say “you don’t have enough credit history”. Right now I am paying rent, phone and car insurance bills ad I do pay them on time….what should I do?
seems like a secured credit card is the other option, thanks everyone for your help!

That happened to me too and its not good to keep applying. Instead go to rite aid or your local pharmacy and at the counter they will have prepaid credit cards. You have to start there and buy one of those.
Then buy some things on the card and pay it off and do that about 10 times and then apply for a card again and you’ll be accepted.
Answer by hujikollone of the best ways is to take a small loan (DO NOT SPEND) and pay it back regularly over the course of a year..it will cost you a bit in interest but goes a long way in establishing credit worthinessAnswer by Butterfly Lover
Find a bank that has a secured credit card program. Citibank used to have one. You deposit funds with the bank and they issue a credit card with a limit equal to your deposit. Use the card and make prompt payments and after a short time (I think it’s a year) they raise your limit and you have free access to your deposit. They even pay interest on the deposit.
Just be sure to do it through a bank, some of the private offerings of secured credit cards have outrageous interest and some have been known to retain the initial deposit.

First of all, don’t keep applying for every credit offer. It will lower your score even more. The only thing I can tell you is, if you got bad credit and want to rebuild your credit, you will have to look at credit cards for poor credit like First Premium Bank Mastercard or etc. The downside-paying annual fees and other fees. The good side- they report to the credit bureaus and give you increases if you pay on time. If you decide to get a card for poor credit, Keep paying your bills on time like you been doing. Over time your credit score will get better and you can get rid of the poor credit credit card and apply for the good ones…I know cause I been there!!!Answer by Goonhilda
Stop applying for credit cards. Two many credit applications is the best way to completely ruin your credit rating.
You don’t actually need a credit history to get a home loan or anything. I had no credit cards, but a great saving history. That’s what got me my home loan.
Banks like a good savings history because it shows you are good with money. A credit history just shows that you know how to pay a bill. Which do you think is better?
Skip the cards. Save some money in an emergency account — say about $ 2000– and use that as your ‘credit card’.
Paying your other bills is a great way to establish a history as a good payer. Keep doing that.
Good luck.
