Oliver Courtland: How would your religion or faith system be effected by the discovery of life on other planets?
Suppose we confirmed that there is life elsewhere in the Universe, other than on planet Earth…

How would your faith system respond to this information? Does your religion presuppose that we are alone in the Universe?

And how would your faith system or religion be effected or changed by such a discovery?

If by “life”, you mean cells or plants, etc etc., I’d say it wouldn’t really impact it.

If by life you mean actual other beings like us, I’d have to re-adjust some beliefs, but on the whole, the core would probly still be the same.

I would be surprised if their where other humans on other planets. That would be weird. As for other life forms, if they were intelligent it would show if god lives or not. As God would be among them somewhere. JUST we are created in his image. But other then that no.

First of all there is NO life on other planets, period. We are the only planet with life there are no other planets with life on it. We are a very special planet. This is all there is. But knowing that there are people out there who hate God they will make up lies about finding life on other planets.
So to answer your question, NO , it would not affect my faith in God.

It would confirm my beliefs. I believe that there are many other worlds besides our own with people on them just like us.

The fact is that there is life on other planets….

only in our galaxy there are almost 400 billion stars the milky way which is only one of a nother 400 billion galaxies whitch every one of them contains another 200-400 billion stars and even planets in our solar system contain ice or(water which is the number1 element for allowing live to exist) i think there are a lots of aliens out there.

I also think religions are all paths which lead all to the same god even if every culture interpretated the story in its own way.
The rituals and rules are a little different but if you compare them you will see that all religions came from previous religions.

Hinduiusm Christianity and Judaism have all the same patterns and were inspired by egyptian beliefs 4000 years ago and even those were inspired by the sumerians 6000 years ago i belive.

People would get relly scared but in my view there can be only one true god and it’s important to believe in god not necessarily in a religion.

Religion is the simple way to explain creation but it’s much more complicated than that …so people on earth decided to make a much more easier method to describe the same thing.
