dreamweaver: How to solve the problem of other cats battering open cat flap and stealing my cats food?
Hi
We’ve got a Staywell magnetic cat flap with a magnetic collar for our cat. The problem we’ve got is that other cats are battering open her cat flap (even when we lock it) and stealing her food!
We scare them off when we catch them doing it, but they come back when we’re out.
Does any know where I can get a food bowl which only opens to a specific magnet? Or a way of discouraging these violent kitties?
Thank you

but it seem not work isnt it
how about train your cat to eat at exactly time
such as every 8am, 1pm and 6pm
then buy her a timer cat bowl which set those timeAnswer by Miss Mellen
My parents had the same problem.
They stopped using the cat flap.
Eventually, the other cats will get the message and go away.
Also, try giving her just enough food that she will finish it all so there isn’t any food for the other cats to come in, which gives the cats no reason to come in.Answer by jeff k
the best thing in the world for keeping away unwanted cats is a high powered water gun, it does not harm them in any way but is certainly scares the sh!t out of them, they hate it especially if you get them on the head or the @res hole, they will not return after a few shots of that, they soon get the message, trust me! it works.Answer by Haidee
i had this problem and i went and got a dog it really works and if you can get a dog that is good with cats it will be good friends with your cat in two weeks but it will chase all the mean cats as they are intruders it worked really well for me i havent had any problems since i got my dogAnswer by Karen D

You can buy a cat flap from a company called “Pet Porte” which only opens for your cat/s. It works by looking for the cats microchip so you will need to have it chipped by your vet if you havent already (fairly cheap and necessary for outdoor cats anyway). You can programme it for up to 12 cats if you need to.
The cat flap is expensive but its a lot more robust than the Staywell ones – it certainly stopped next door’s big tom cat getting in!

The Geezer: Jeyes Fluid will kill cats so not a helpful answer.
Move the bowl away from the cat flap deeper into your cat’s territory and a water spray will certainly deter. It doesn’t have to be a sadistic high power one, a house plant sprayer will do the job.
