Kristen Stewart Fan: How to heal an infected cartlidge piercing?
I have had my cartridge piercing for about 8 months now. A day ago I realized it seems to have white-ish colored puss coming from where the hoop is in my ear. I never change the hoop. The piercing was done with a stud. So any suggestions on how to fix this problem? I am regularly trying peroxide and salt water. I really love this piercing so please don’t suggest to just take it out. Thanks!

Keep doing sea salt soaks but I would stop using peoxide with in very harsh. Try to be careful that ensure that the ring doesn’t get caught on things. This can cause puss to leak out. Also try not to touch the earring unless you are cleaning it. And in that case, make sure that you have washed your hands with antibacterial soap.
Go call your doctor’s office and speak to a nurse if you, start to have a dramatic increase in puss/blood coming out, exteme tenderness, or warmth to the touch. These are signs of infection. Your current problem should hopefully go away in a week or so. Never take out a piercing that you expect is infected unless directed to do so by a doctor/APNP/PA or a professional piercer. Doing so in the wrong context can cause more infection and irritation
try cleaning it with a pericing cleaner or alcohol, a lot of people hate on using alcohol but it always worked for me, it will sting but it works, clean it a couple times a day, twisting the earring around helps but since you have a hoop I dunno if you can do that very easily, you might want to clean it and change earrings to see if that might help, if not clean the ear and earring insanely well, but don’t take it out, if you do it might be harder to get back in or make it worse…peroxide never worked for me but alot of people rave about sea salts, iv never used it thoughAnswer by marmaladeskies
A white/light yellow secretion is normal and not a sign of infection.
A dark yellow/green secretion is not and a sign of infection. As well as it being very swollen, very red, hot to the touch and painful to touch.
Stop using the peroxide it is to harsh for piercings and will not aid in healing.
Sea salt soaks OR a mild antibacterial soap 1-2 times a day. These are the only things that should ever be used on piercings. No alcohol, peroxide, bactine, ear care solutions, ointments or anything you might use on a cut or a scrape.
Just continue the sea salt soaks.
