Sara (Mommy to Twins!): how to handle maternity leave and knowing you wont be back to work after wards?
I want to put in for maternity leave and I am about 33 weeks along. My family is PCS-ing (Moving from one duty station in the army to another). So I wont be coming back to work. Do I put in for my maternity and then put my resignation in for when we leave? I know this is a delicate situation. Im not quite sure how to handle it.

I’m a military wife, so I understand. Are you a federal employee? You are entitled to 12 months of leave under the FMLA. You do not have to tell them that you won’t be returning, but why wouldn’t you(unless you are unsure). Is your workcenter small? Will your absence make it difficult for your coworkers to effectively run the office? You don’t want to burn any bridges just in case you need them provide you with a good reference later.
