I am planning to buy a non registered toy poodle puppy. I am afraid that I might be cheated by the breeder by giving me a miniature poodle puppy. So is there any way to know which type of poodle the puppy will be?

Nope. Backyard breeder’s lie through their teeth to get money. If you really want to make sure you can either rescue a full grown toy poodle, or you can get a toy poodle from a reputable breeder.

hmmm..i had that same prob. they said my dog was a full breed toy poodle,but he grew wayy to big. the only way to really tell is by watching its growth rate. if by 6 months it is more than 10 lbs,u know it is not a toy. toy poodles are supposed to be between 5-8 lbs when they are full grown. even if it isnt a toy poodle,you should still love it and care for it the same way that you would if it were.

The only way to know is to not support through irresponsible purchase an ignorant back yard breeder. You get what you get… you support someone who cranks out poor quality trash dogs and you are worried about getting ‘cheated’? haha If a guy on the street stops and wants to sell you a diamond necklace for fifty bucks, would you consider yourself ‘cheated’ if you purchased it and then found out it wasn’t REALLY a diamond necklace? Or would you consider yourself a fool for falling for that BS in the first place? The diamond necklace won’t suffer from illnesses and genetic issues – won’t line the pocket of someone who will simply continue making lives without concern to sell to people who are fools… P.T. Barnum was SO right! hahaha
