How should a father feel when an 18 year old woman claims he is her father and DNA test proves it? She grew up with her mother and her step (adoptive father). She still spends most of her time with her step father. Her mother did not reveal her biological father until she is 18; because that is the only way her biological father could not legally challenge the adoption.

This is a gift that life has given you. Whatever else has happened, you don’t have a beef with this woman who is your daughter. It is up to you and her what kind of relationship you choose to have with each other.

I encourage you to put the past behind and start fresh on the right foot with your daughter. You are the only real father she will have so treat her with love and respect. Whatever happened between you and her mother and whatever will happen in the future, it is not your daughter’s fault that you two didn’t have a chance to grow together earlier. I would feel like there is something wrong with me. A pregnant woman doesn’t usually make the choice to not tell the father and instead do it all herself and pay for it herself unless there is something seriously wrong with him (abusive, drug addict, etc.)
