The prescription for your contact lens is now good only for one year since about 3 years ago. You can’t have your prescription filled if it is more than a year.
Most optomitrist reccomend an eye exam once every six months for those wearing contacts. They reccomend this because the diameter of your pupil can change and having an exam twice a year ensures a proper fitting lense.
Also prescriptions are good only for one year so I’d suggest you see your optomitrist for an exam!Answer by ♥♥Mrs SSG B♥♥
You need to have one every year. If its been over a year, your doctor’s office will not allow you to purchase more until you’ve had a new examination. Its not only to see if the prescription has changed, its also to make sure that your eyes are healthy. With wearing contacts comes a much higher incidence of infection and complications so for that reason, they need to see you every year to make sure that your eyes are healthy enough to continue wearing them…
Every year…
Answer by Sue MAs an Optician, the doctor I worked for would not refill a contact RX if it had been over a year since your last eye exam. Your eyes change, some peoples faster than others. Be safe, get your exam once a year, that way your eye doctor can check not only for an RX change but the interior and exterior health of your eyes.Answer by Jennifer
Optometrists won’t refill contact prescriptions if it has been more than a year since your last exam. My optometrists in the past have told me this is to ensure good health of the cornea. Even if you usually send your prescription in to one of the online contact providers, they will call your optometrist for verification if it’s been over a year..and good common medical practice is for the optometrist to see you before they will let the contact lens people know it’s ok to refill for you.Answer by Lori L
Yearly. Always yearly. Otherwise you are asking for trouble by being irresponsible with your vision.Answer by Tristan’s Mom
In most states, contact lense prescriptions expire in one year. From what I understand, they expire sooner than eye glass prescriptions (2 years) due to the chance that infections may occur more often. I would say, get the exam.Answer by Jazzy
